dc.description.abstract This thesis is the first part of a novel in progress. The novel, entitled, Vivid, tells the story of Henry, a quiet, introspective young man who, after the tragic death of his childhood friend, decides to leave the country. He spends the next five years in Buenos Aires, Argentina and during his time abroad, he struggles to process his friend’s death, while also redefining his own ideas about love, family, and purpose. The novel explores themes of loss, identity, otherness, and the way we – as individuals – carve meaning into the chaos of the world around us.
