Abstract:
Life isn’t what Natalie Lukas thought it would be after college. There were good
times (marrying her college sweetheart and scoring a coveted journalist position at The
Georgetowner), but there have also been bad times. Money is tight and the trial
separation has led to more confusion than closure. It is during this period of turmoil that
Natalie’s father presents a solution to all her problems —if she’s willing to participate in
something illegal.
Natalie wants to turn him down and look the other way (as she did the whole time
she was growing up), but it’s a matter of life and death for her father. Her fierce devotion
to the only family she has ever really known takes over, and she agrees to help even
though it entails getting romantically involved with a mark who is not her husband.
She knows nothing about this world she has stepped into except for what she has
unknowingly witnessed from her father, but even she knows that there is something off
about this con. Her inquisitive nature pushes her to ask questions…questions that the
other members of the team don’t want asked. The more she digs, the more she realizes
that this con isn’t what she thought it was and that there is no way out.
